Job Title: Substance Abuse Intervention Counselor

Cypress-Fairbanks ISD is seeking a highly skilled Substance Abuse Intervention Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our school community, you will play a vital role in supporting students, staff, and families in addressing substance abuse and related issues.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in planning and developing the school's education, guidance, and counseling program to address student needs.
  • Collaborate with parents and professional personnel to develop classroom and behavioral management plans.
  • Provide personal and developmental counseling services through individual and group conferences.
  • Work with community resource personnel to prevent and intervene in substance abuse and school dropouts.
  • Provide crisis counseling and consultant services as needed.
  • Develop and implement small groups and programs to promote personal and social development.
  • Consult with the school psychologist on identified students.
  • Communicate with the community, school staff, and appropriate agencies about the role of the Substance Abuse Intervention Counselor.
  • Report child abuse cases to the Children's Protective Services and involve Youth Service Specialists when necessary.
  • Act as a liaison with support personnel and assist in preparing written reports and surveys.
  • Provide individual guidance programs to promote learning and personal growth.
  • Counsel and serve as a resource person for parents on issues affecting student growth.
  • Work with community referral sources to prevent and intervene in substance abuse and related issues.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree from a recognized, accredited college or university.
  • Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) or Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern preferred.
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) preferred.
  • Valid Texas Certificate as a Professional School Counselor preferred.
  • Previous experience with secondary schools preferred.
  • Group/Individual Counseling experience preferred.
Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress, work with frequent interruptions, occasional prolonged and irregular hours, and transportation required.
