Claims Specialist Job Description

Liberty Mutual is seeking a skilled Claims Specialist to join our Commercial Lines division. As a Claims Specialist, you will play a critical role in managing an assigned caseload of routine to moderately complex claims from investigation to resolution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage an inventory of claims to evaluate compensability/liability
  • Establish action plans based on case facts, best practices, protocols, regulatory issues, and available resources
  • Plan and conduct investigations of claims to confirm coverage and determine liability, compensability, and damages
  • Assess policy coverage for submitted claims and notify the insured of any issues; determine and establish reserve requirements, adjusting reserves as necessary, during the processing of the claim
  • Negotiate settlements within assigned authority limits
Requirements:
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in claims adjustment, general insurance, or formal claims training
  • Required to obtain and maintain all applicable licenses
  • Continuing education courses leading to industry certifications preferred
