Clinical Staff Pharmacist, Acute Care, Variable Shift

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Staff Pharmacist to join our team in Acute Care. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.
Responsibilities- Performs all computer order entry in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner.
- Reviews and updates medication profiles, ensuring patient safety and accuracy.
- Reviews medication orders for therapeutic appropriateness, duplications, interactions, overall effectiveness, and safety.
- Seeks clarification when necessary and documents interventions.
- Works independently and effectively with minimal supervision, taking charge when necessary and making sound decisions.
- Is cross-trained and multifunctional, maintaining competency in multiple areas.
- Enforces the formulary system and follows departmental policy and procedure when acquiring non-formulary products.
- Participates in cost-effective use and selection of pharmaceuticals.
- Communicates drug information to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in a courteous and professional manner.
- Assists in patient and family education and counseling regarding drug therapy and side effects.
- Documents clinical activities, demonstrating cost savings and conveying key information required for follow-up.
- One year of experience in a hospital setting required for inpatient positions; one year of retail experience preferred.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
- Eligible for licensure by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) is required, and a Texas license with TSBP within 30 days of hire is necessary.
- Sterile compounding (IV) certification accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with a course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is required by start date.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) with a course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) will be required for inpatient positions prior to or within six months of employment.
