Clinical Staff Pharmacist, Acute Care, Variable Shift

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Staff Pharmacist to join our team at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. As a Clinical Staff Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our pharmacy team.
Responsibilities- Performs job responsibilities in accordance with organizational and departmental policies, procedures, performance improvement objectives, and environmental/infection control standards.
- Reviews and updates medication profiles, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Reviews medication orders for therapeutic appropriateness, duplications, interactions, overall effectiveness, and safety.
- Communicates drug information to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in a courteous and professional manner.
- Assists in patient/family education and counseling regarding drug therapy and side effects.
- Manages technicians and supportive personnel, delegating tasks and validating accuracy of medications.
- Audits and signs out controlled substances in accordance with state/federal guidelines and organizational policies.
- Investigates and corrects discrepancies and unusual usage patterns/trends.
- Actively enhances personal growth and development by participating in educational programs, in-services, and meetings.
- Supports P&T initiatives by monitoring target drugs for protocol discontinuation, substitution, IV to PO, and other opportunities for improvement.
- One (1) year of experience in a hospital setting required for an inpatient position; 1 year of retail experience preferred.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or Doctor of Pharmacy (PhD) degree required.
- Eligible for licensure by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) is required, and a Texas license with TSBP within 30 days of hire is required.
- Sterile compounding (IV) certification accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with a course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is required by start date.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) with a course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) will be required for inpatient positions prior to or within 6 months of employment.
