About the Role

Reliant Capital is seeking an experienced and motivated Associate General Counsel to join our growing legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mortgage lending law and regulations, with the ability to provide sound legal advice and support to various business units within the organization. This role will report directly to the General Counsel and will be responsible for assisting with a wide range of legal matters related to mortgage lending operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Legal Guidance: Offer expert legal advice and support to internal stakeholders on all aspects of mortgage lending activities, including origination, servicing, compliance, and regulatory matters.
  • Contract Review and Negotiation: Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of contracts and agreements, including loan documentation, vendor contracts, and third-party service agreements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of federal and state laws and regulations governing mortgage lending, ensuring compliance with all applicable requirements.
  • Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct legal research and analysis on complex issues related to mortgage lending, and provide recommendations and solutions to mitigate legal risks.
  • Policies and Procedures: Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance across the organization.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including risk management, compliance, operations, and finance, to address legal issues and achieve business objectives.
  • Outside Counsel Management: Manage and oversee outside counsel and legal vendors as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school; current California bar license.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience practicing law, with a focus on mortgage lending or financial services.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of federal and state laws and regulations governing mortgage lending, including but not limited to RESPA, TILA, TRID, and FCRA.
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Personal Qualities: Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Experience with regulatory compliance management systems.
