We are seeking a highly skilled Physician (Psychiatry) Substance Use Recovery Clinic Specialist to join our team at the Veterans Health Administration. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment and treatment, as well as co-occurring substance use disorders assessment and treatment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform general psychiatric assessment and treatment, as well as co-occurring substance use disorders assessment and treatment within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Work closely with colleagues to provide comprehensive, evidence-based treatment in the outpatient setting.
- Initiate/continue buprenorphine treatment for opioid use disorder in the outpatient setting when appropriate.
- Provide treatment for patients with co-occurring SUD and general mental health disorders in the outpatient setting.
- Act as a liaison between colleagues in the SUD specialty care clinic and the outpatient mental health clinic.
- Conduct history and physical examinations, including mental status examinations, intake assessments, substance use disorders assessments, and suicide risk evaluations.
- Participate effectively in team meetings and treatment planning conferences, and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to enhance coordination of comprehensive patient care.
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Experience and/or training in addiction medicine.
Work ScheduleMonday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.
