EEG Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled EEG Technician to join our team at Houston Methodist. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine, ambulatory, and long-term monitoring electroencephalograms (EEG) and/or visual, brainstem, and somatosensory evoked potential (EP) procedures according to hospital and departmental policy and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Perform EEG and EP procedures on patients, including bedside studies, clinical EP studies, and monitoring of epilepsy patients.
- Ensure correct electrode application in adherence with the International 10-20 System and recognize correct EEG and/or EP performance and clinically significant events.
- Maintain patient safety through communication with other patient care support staff during procedures as needed.
- Stock supplies and prepare patient rooms and equipment for upcoming procedures.
- Report near misses and input errors promptly into documentation systems to improve processes and identify trends.
- High School Diploma or equivalent education.
- Completion of an Accredited Electroneurodiagnostic END program or an Associate's degree or higher in a science-related field from an accredited college or university.
- Six months experience in the performance of END procedures in a patient care environment or successful completion of all clinicals required by and through an approved Electroneurodiagnostic END program.
- BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA) certification.
- Possesses basic computer knowledge to operate necessary computer systems and software.
- Exhibits strong interpersonal and team player skills with all levels of the healthcare team.
- Knowledgeable of alternate montages, protocols, and alternate equipment settings and their effects on the test data.
