Job Summary:

As an EEG Technician at Sutter Health, you will perform non-invasive cortical neurophysiological testing with minimal supervision, in accordance with physician's orders and historical information. This role involves inpatient electroencephalogram (EEG) testing in all areas of the hospital, including neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) /intensive care unit (ICU), WADA (intracarotid sodium amobarbital procedure), and outpatient testing including routine and ambulatory. You may also be asked to provide break relief for staff at the monitor station. Works with all age groups.

Responsibilities:

Performs non-invasive cortical neurophysiological testing

Conducts inpatient electroencephalogram (EEG) testing in all areas of the hospital

May be asked to provide break relief for staff at the monitor station

Works with all age groups

Requirements:

HS Diploma or GED

BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider

REEGT-Registered Electroencephalographic/Neurodiagnostic Technologist if performing EEGs

EMG-Certified Electromyographic Technologist if performing EMG procedures

1-year recent relevant experience

Skills and Knowledge:

Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, of the neurology system

Knowledge of electro neurologic testing and associated equipment

Knowledge of acute care setting, performing electro encephalogram (EEG) procedures on infant, pediatric and adult patients

Demonstrated familiarity with TJC (The Joint Commission) accreditation standards

Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision

Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in volatile situations

Ability to understand, read and write the English language

Ability to type a minimum of 55 wpm

Ability to work around strong smells (i.e. collodion, acetone, bleach, hospital cleaner)

Ability to work with patients with special needs or altered level of consciousness

Ability to work alone or with a team, ensuring ongoing communication between coworkers and shifts

Ability to multitask despite interruptions with accuracy
