About the Job

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the State of Florida as a Maintenance Mechanic. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance and repair of various systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural and architectural systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electrical Systems: Perform maintenance and repair on all building electrical systems, including indoor and outdoor lighting systems, electrical buss systems, 120- and 480-volt receptacles, electrical distribution panels, and secondary electrical feeders to the facilities.
  • Plumbing and HVAC Systems: Maintain, install, and repair sinks, showers, sanitary plumbing fixtures, and base fire protection systems, as well as heat pumps systems, air conditioning systems, chiller systems, and thermostats control systems.
  • Structural and Architectural Systems: Maintain, install, and repair roll-up door systems, personnel entry doors, folding wall partitions, lock systems, hanger door systems, building ladder systems, hoists, roofing systems, gutters, and downspouts, awnings, and window systems.
  • Shop Equipment and Tools: Ensure the proper use, maintenance, and repair of shop equipment and portable power tools, including table saws, drill presses, band saws, belt sanders, pipe threading machines, grinders, and Freon recovery systems.
Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of basic professional experience involving electrical, plumbing, heating, air-conditioning systems, or structural and architectural systems.
  • A valid Florida Driver's License.
  • The ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs or more.
  • Manual dexterity with hands and fingers.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to physical demands, including bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling. The ability to work at heights and in confined spaces is also required.
