Position Overview:
Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry is seeking applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty role within the Department of Endodontics. This department is dedicated to ongoing education and fostering collaboration with various clinics and departments within the School of Dentistry.

Key Responsibilities:
The faculty member will be responsible for providing comprehensive classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction to predoctoral students. Responsibilities include:

  • Serving as a Clinical Instructor for both Pre- and Post-doctoral education
  • Delivering lectures and didactic instruction
  • Conducting laboratory exercise sessions
  • Performing additional related duties as assigned

Detailed Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will create and present lecture materials for both didactic and laboratory courses. They will supervise endodontic procedures conducted by predoctoral students in the main clinics on a daily basis. Collaboration with other departments within the School of Dentistry is essential to ensure a comprehensive care environment. Additional expectations include engaging in independent research and contributing service to the College. Essential Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Exceptional communication skills and experience in pre- and post-doctoral education
  • A background in working with a diverse student and patient population
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and treating periodontal conditions, including both nonsurgical and surgical therapies, dental implantology, laser dentistry, and dental sedation

  • Engagement in research initiatives
  • Mentoring students
  • Evaluating outcomes assessments

Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based practices, current trends, technologies, and concepts relevant to the clinical area of instruction.

Required Education and Experience:
Candidates must hold a DDS/DMD degree or equivalent from an accredited institution in the US or Canada. Eligibility for a Tennessee Dental License and Faculty licensure is mandatory. Strong oral and communication skills, a commitment to inclusivity and diversity, and a collegial attitude are essential. Salary and rank will be determined based on education and experience.
