Role Overview

Northern Hills Child Care is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to support the growth and development of children, particularly those who have experienced trauma and exhibit challenging behaviors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing engaging lesson plans that accommodate the unique needs of each child, focusing on social-emotional learning and resilience.
  • Foster a safe and supportive classroom environment for children with diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Build strong relationships with children and their families, supporting the child's well-being and development.
  • Learn and employ strategies for managing and de-escalating challenging behaviors in a compassionate and effective manner.
  • Participate in hands-on training, one-on-one mentoring, and ongoing professional development to enhance skills in supporting children with behavioral challenges.

Requirements

  • Student or recent graduate in child care, education, or a related field, with a particular interest in or experience with children who exhibit challenging behaviors.
  • Deep understanding of and commitment to inclusion, empathy, and patience in approach to child care.
  • Eager to learn and implement strategies that support social-emotional development and address behavioral challenges.
  • Resilient, able to maintain composure and provide stability in challenging situations.
  • Share core values of inclusion, hope, and belief in every child's potential to grow and succeed.
