Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday: 8:30am-5:30pm (with flexible hours)

Position Overview:

The Pediatric Communication Specialist (PCS) is responsible for assessing, planning, organizing, developing, and delivering speech-language therapy services for children, as well as providing services to external contracts, in compliance with relevant federal, state, and facility regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Master's Degree from an ASHA accredited program is required. Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist and ASHA certificate of clinical competence or eligibility is essential. Ability to manage a caseload appropriate to FTE status is necessary. Experience with pediatric populations or individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred but not mandatory. Continuing education as per state regulations is required.

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

• The ideal candidate will exhibit strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating tact, courtesy, and diplomacy in interactions with clients and colleagues. Adaptability to rapid changes and the ability to respond effectively in crisis situations are crucial.

• Proficiency in using Windows-based technology and familiarity with therapeutic equipment is necessary. The candidate should be comfortable utilizing various therapeutic tools, including iPads and assistive technology, and be capable of developing communication systems ranging from low to high tech.

• A current ASHA membership or eligibility for membership is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate under the guidance of the Therapy Operations Manager.

• Deliver direct therapeutic interventions for a diverse caseload, including outpatient clients with various diagnoses.

• Develop and implement tailored treatment programs, evaluate client progress, and establish both short and long-term goals in collaboration with the Therapy Operations Manager and other professionals.

• Collect and analyze data to document client performance and assess program effectiveness, making recommendations for improvements as needed.

• Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and complete necessary administrative tasks, including daily notes and billing.

• Prepare and select appropriate instructional materials for speech-language therapy.

• Report any health concerns or changes in client conditions to the Therapy Operations Manager promptly.

• Utilize clients' adaptive equipment as required and manage any inappropriate behaviors using established techniques and protocols.

• Adhere to the work schedule and maintain consistent attendance.

• Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

• Uphold the ethical standards of the Anne Carlsen Center and demonstrate expected behaviors as outlined in our policies.

• Complete all required training and educational requirements in accordance with state and federal regulations.
