Job Summary

This position performs nuclear medicine exams to provide images of organs, evaluate body functions, and analyze biological specimens to aid physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares patients for exams, explains procedures, and administers radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies using various radioisotope equipment.
  • Detects and maps radiopharmaceuticals in patient bodies using imaging equipment, ensuring technical quality of images.
  • Collects, prepares, and analyzes biologic specimens, and prepares data for quality assurance on imaging equipment.
  • Assists with initial and renewal applications for ACR and other regulatory bodies, and reports any accidents, complaints, or equipment malfunctions to department management.
  • Takes emergency calls within the department and ensures safe care to patients, staff, and visitors.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine Technology or Radiologic Technology.
  • Certificate in Basic or Advanced Life Support and current license or temporary license by the Texas Medical Board (MRT), required.
  • Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-N) or Certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), required.
  • Ability to lift and/or maneuver patients in conjunction with others to perform job functions.
