We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Computed Tomography Technologist to join our team at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine and complex computed tomography (CT) procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and adhering to radiation safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Perform diagnostic radiology procedures, including common and special CT exams, to produce high-quality images for accurate diagnoses.
- Assist physicians during diagnostic or special procedures, including sterile technique, to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Provide accurate explanations and instructions to patients and family members, utilizing verbal and non-verbal skills, terminology, and language.
- Follow safety standards and conduct imaging procedures accordingly, using ALARA principles to protect patients, staff, and the general public.
- Maintain proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practice aseptic techniques, and ensure compliance with radiation safety and infection control procedures.
- Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications, Licenses and Registrations section.
- CMRT - Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist - State Licensure OR CMRT-Temp - Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist - Temporary State Licensure AND BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA) AND If less than 1 year CT experience: American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in Radiography (ARRT (R)) or Radiation Therapy (ARRT (T)) or Nuclear Medicine (ARRT (N)) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification (CNMT)) and American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in CT (ARRT (CT)) within 6 months OR If 1 or more years CT experience: American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in Radiography (ARRT (R)) or Radiation Therapy (ARRT (T)) or Nuclear Medicine (ARRT (N)) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification (CNMT) and American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in CT (ARRT (CT)) by the end of the month following 12 months of hire
- Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations
- Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles
