Position Overview:

The Fiscal Services Specialist plays a crucial role in managing a variety of financial tasks that are essential support functions within a designated department or program. This position involves thorough research of financial data and the preparation of comprehensive reports.

This role adheres to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, as well as state and federal regulations, and institutional policies.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conducts in-depth research and analysis of financial data, develops or modifies processes and policies based on findings, and presents detailed reports to management.
2. Creates and maintains databases, spreadsheets, and other financial reporting tools, ensuring the accuracy and quality of fiscal information through regular audits.
3. Provides technical support to colleagues utilizing various databases and systems, including the state accounting system and general ledger, assisting in the resolution of discrepancies.
4. Records transactions in journals and/or ledgers, balances entries, and rectifies errors, whether manually or electronically.
5. Performs a range of accounting duties, contributing to budget management and the monthly and year-end financial closing processes.
6. Generates monthly production reports, statistical analyses, and other routine reports as required.
7. May oversee the accurate and timely entry of time records, payroll documents, purchase orders, personnel action forms, budget documents, and other necessary procedural forms.
8. May act as a lead worker, offering training and guidance to team members, and establishing work plans and deadlines, or may supervise a small support team by conducting interviews, training, assigning tasks, and evaluating performance.

Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of an associate's degree in general business, business management, or a related field, along with three years of experience in financial operations.

Additional qualifications determined by the agency for recruitment purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
