Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Employment Support Specialist to join our team at Goodwill Industries of Greater New York. The successful candidate will provide rehabilitation and vocational supports to individuals with serious and persistent mental illness, helping them achieve their employment goals and improve their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of up to 20 participants, providing individualized support and guidance to help them achieve their vocational goals.
  • Administer assessments, bi-weekly meetings, progress notes, and individualized treatment plans to ensure participants receive the necessary support and resources.
  • Develop and implement vocational plans, provide individual counseling, and facilitate vocational groups to help participants reach their employment goals.
  • Assist participants with soft-skills development, resume creation, and interview skills development to support job retention.
  • Provide referrals to outside vocational/educational services, assist with job development and job search, and provide job coaching as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings to ensure coordination of vocational and other services.
  • Facilitate 6-8 groups per week, providing a supportive and structured environment for participants to learn and grow.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with individuals with serious and persistent mental illness, preferably in a vocational rehabilitation setting.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent computer literacy skills.
  • Understanding of Evidence-Based Practices and experience with IPS, Person-Centered Planning, and/or working with individuals with mental illness.
  • Bilingual/bicultural a plus.
