Job Summary

Surgical Care Affiliates is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team as a Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) in the Preoperative and Postoperative department. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and ensuring a smooth transition from preoperative to postoperative care.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient's preoperative and postoperative status at intervals according to facility or health care organization policies and procedures.
  • Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care and implement it, including interventions such as preparing for and managing patient recovery from anesthesia, providing acute pain and comfort management, and administering medications safely and correctly.
  • Communicate the patient's current status throughout the perianesthesia continuum of care and provide education to patients and their families regarding expected responses to the operative or invasive procedure.
  • Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as needed and participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.
  • Document nursing care completely, accurately, and legibly, and maintain required competencies and pursue professional growth.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
  • One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience required.
  • Medical / surgical nursing experience.
  • Current state licensure to practice within good standings.
  • Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification.
  • Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification.
  • Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and exposure to blood and bodily fluids. The RN must be able to lift, push, and pull equipment and supplies as needed.
