Executive Director Job Description

As the Executive Director of the YMCA of Greater Dayton, you will be responsible for leading the development of YMCA programs, memberships, volunteers/staff, and activities conducted through the branch. This role requires strategic leadership to drive the success of the Association and develop programs and systems in accordance with the Association's strategic plan and YMCA of the USA standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement annual objectives for the YMCA Branch as part of the Association's strategic plan.
  • Manage the annual branch operating budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Develop and implement the program plan for the branch to meet YMCA objectives and adhere to state, local, and YMCA health and safety regulations.
  • Lead and conduct a successful Annual Campaign to achieve the pre-campaign agreed-upon goal.
  • Select, train, lead, coach, evaluate, develop, and motivate Branch staff and volunteers.
  • Foster an inclusive work environment.
  • Develop and work successfully with collaborative partners.
  • Promote and advocate for the work of the Y within the community in accordance with Association/Branch strategic and operating plans.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead the appropriate volunteer structure of the branch, including an active volunteer Board of Advisors.
  • Oversee the management of a clean and sanitary, safe, and well-maintained facility that meets all state and local licensing requirements.
  • Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information, ensuring marketing materials comply with Y branding guidelines and using Y Voice to effectively tell the YMCA story.
  • Ensure maintenance of accurate records for the branch related to programs, facility, and staff.
  • Communicate to the Vice President of Operations any concerns or incidents that may need follow-up.
  • Lead goal setting and achievement of outcomes of program task teams and other assigned committees of the Association.
  • Hold effective staff meetings.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent education and experience required.
  • CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen within 60 days of hire and kept current.
  • Six or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or nonprofit agency.
  • Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  • Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
  • Proven track record in fundraising along with community and partner development.
  • Solid experience in program planning and membership development required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license, insurable driver's record according to the YMCA's insurance carriers, and have reliable transportation to travel for business meetings, training events, YMCA site visits, vendors, and suppliers, etc.
  • Computer skills needed, particularly with Microsoft Office and email applications, along with ability to learn the internal YMCA software.
