We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Accountant II to join our Maryland team. This role is designed for a mid-level professional capable of independently managing project accounting and supporting multiple project managers to achieve financial success in various construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Set up new projects in Sage and Procore according to executed contracts.
  2. Process job-related cost invoices and ensure accurate cost coding.
  3. Post journal entries and job cost transactions as needed for assigned projects.
  4. Oversee vendor compliance and maintain credit application documents.
  5. Process weekly intercompany cost transactions and reconcile accounts.
  6. Work with Project Managers to prepare and distribute monthly project billings.
  7. Review underbilled projects and discuss revenue maximization strategies with the project team.
  8. Efficiently manage account receivables and payables.
  9. Proactively collaborate with Project Managers on collection efforts.
  10. Provide regular financial reports to project teams using job cost tracking and trend analysis.
  11. Investigate profit variances and cost overruns with the project team before the monthly job review.
  12. Ensure timely management of NCI financial deadlines and procedures.
  13. Assist in preparing reports for project financial closeout.
  14. Contribute to special department projects as assigned.


Requirements:
  • A flexible, detail-oriented, self-motivated individual able to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, initiative, and dependability skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve basic to complex issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel), data entry, accounts payable and receivable, and vendor payments.
  • Experience with financial accounting systems (preferably Sage or similar).
