Fabrication Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Fabrication Specialist - 2nd Class to join our team at Butler Weldments. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for positioning and securing various types and sizes of steel parts and components to be welded onto subassemblies or assemblies, according to drawings, specifications and instructions.

• Positioning and Securing: Position and secure various types and sizes of steel parts and components to be welded onto subassemblies or assemblies, according to drawings, specifications and instructions.
• Layout and Assembly: Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly and welding operations.
• Welding Operations: Layout, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, ruler, jigs welding torches and other hand tools.
• Quality Control: Measure dimensions of completed products or workpieces to verify conformance to specifications.
• Equipment Operation: Operate grinding equipment and material handling equipment.
• Maintenance: Perform basic and preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Teamwork: Work independently and as a team member to achieve good speed of execution while maintaining quality workmanship in a wide range of fitting activities.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent, technical training or apprentice certification desired.
• Experience: Minimum of 3+ years related production experience.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, proficient in reading and interpreting blue prints, drawings and specifications, experience with electrical and manual tools, demonstrated ability to understand and follow through on verbal and written instructions, knowledge of safety standards, self-motivated and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

This full-time position operates in a production environment. Physical effort consists of frequent handling of light to average weight tools or materials, some handling of heavy weights, some pulling, pushing. The employee must be able to lift and move items up to 50 pounds. Work performed requires constant alertness and activity, good eye/hand coordination and concentrated mental and visual attention.
