Job SummaryA Welder 2nd Class Specialist will operate appropriate equipment to assemble parts with a high degree of precision. The ideal candidate will have a steady hand, great attention to detail, and working knowledge of various welding processes.
Key Responsibilities- Promote and adhere to our Core Values and Behavior Code.
- Set up and operate semi-automatic and fully automatic welding equipment.
- Weld in various positions - flat, vertical, and horizontal.
- Operate welding-related equipment such as positioners, jig fixtures, and cutting equipment.
- Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Understand and adhere to established weld procedures.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment and processes based on drawing requirements.
- Demonstrate proficiency in four welding processes; SMAW, GMAW, SAW, and FCAW.
- Skilled in carbon arc cutting.
- Operate material handling equipment.
- Inspect welded surfaces to ensure welds meet the minimum size and visual acceptance criteria.
- Follow proper material control procedures and record keeping.
- Meet quality workmanship standards.
- Maintain work area, equipment, and supplies in a neat and orderly condition.
- Demonstrate and promote teamwork with team members at all levels in the organization.
- Continually learn from team members and strive to develop personal and professional skills.
- Wear appropriate PPE as required by job duties.
- Promote company goals with a focus on Safety, Quality, and Production.
- High school diploma or equivalent, technical training or apprentice certification desired.
- Minimum of 3+ years manufacturing welding experience.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures.
- Experience with electrical and manual tools.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and follow through on verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge of safety standards.
- Self-motivated and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability and flexibility to shift priorities based on the organization's needs.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Dependability, integrity, and professionalism are essential.
This full-time position operates in a production environment. Physical effort consists of frequent handling of light to average weight tools or materials, some handling of heavy weights, some pulling, pushing.
The employee must be able to lift and move items up to 50 pounds. Work performed requires constant alertness and activity, good eye/hand coordination, and concentrated mental and visual attention.
