Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Automation Tester to join our team at Syms Strategic Group, LLC (SSG) in support of a large Department of Veterans Affairs nationwide program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development and testing, with expertise in automation tools and technologies.

About the Role

The Automation Tester will be responsible for designing and implementing test automation strategies, creating automation test plans, and integrating with CI/CD tools and pipelines. This is a full-time position that requires a minimum of 8+ years of automated software development and testing experience, with proficiency in Java, C#, or Python.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement test automation strategies to improve efficiency and reduce manual testing efforts.
  • Create automation test plans and get approvals from relevant stakeholders.
  • Choose suitable automation tools and configure test environments (e.g., Eclipse IDE, Java, Selenium WebDriver, and TestNG).
  • Develop, maintain, and execute automated tests for various applications and systems.
  • Triage, troubleshoot, and document defects found during testing.
  • Work closely with engineering and QA teams to manage and improve the development pipeline.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software/Systems Engineering, or equivalent technical degree.
  • Experience working in an agile environment and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Comprehensive technical expertise on IT products, operating systems, software, hardware, systems, and networks.
  • Must have experience developing test plans and test procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with EDI and financial transaction systems, as well as testing MUMPS, VistA, and other VA systems.
  • Familiarity with Flat File Processing, API, and Backend testing.
Security Clearance Requirements

This position requires possession of or qualification for a Public Trust (MBI) security clearance.
