Unit Description:
The Surgical Intermediate Care Unit (SIMU) is a dynamic 12-bed inpatient unit that supports our Level 1 trauma center. It caters to adult patients with complex injuries, requiring continuous monitoring and specialized nursing interventions. The unit serves a wide array of post-operative patients from various surgical specialties, ensuring comprehensive care and support.

Role Responsibilities:
As a Certified Nurse Assistant, you will perform a variety of essential patient care and administrative tasks under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN). Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting patients with personal care to facilitate optimal recovery.
  • Executing basic nursing tasks as delegated by an RN, adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring a safe environment and the effective delivery of care.
  • Providing administrative support as needed.
  • Maintaining required skills and competencies.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
Compensation:
Position Compensation Range: $23.82 Hourly
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Experience: No prior experience necessary
  • Licensure: AHA Health Care Provider BLS Certification required.
Certification Requirements:
To qualify, candidates must be certified to practice as a Nurse Aide in Virginia or meet specific criteria, including:
  • Successful completion of an approved PCT Education Program.
  • Documented experience in a similar role or passage of a recognized PCT Certification exam.
  • Exemptions for currently enrolled nursing students or EMT certification holders.
Physical Demands:
This role requires frequent bending, lifting, and the ability to handle weights ranging from 20 to over 100 lbs. Candidates may be exposed to various health-related risks.
