Job Summary:

The Registered Dietitian will provide expert nutrition counseling services to WIC participants and function as a Registered Dietitian and Competent Professional Authority (CPA) for clinical operations. You will work under the direction of the WIC Manager and Public Health Officer to develop and implement nutrition care plans, conduct individual and group nutrition education sessions, and enter participant data in the MI-WIC online database.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement nutrition care plans for high-risk participants
  • Conduct individual and group nutrition education sessions based on client needs
  • Enter required participant data in the MI-WIC online database
  • Determine and authorize requests for Class II and III formula
  • Assign risk codes and tailor food packages for program participants
  • Determine WIC applicant's medical/nutritional eligibility by obtaining and assessing anthropometric, hematological data, health, and dietary history
  • Promote breastfeeding and participate in agency breastfeeding promotional activities
  • Provide support and counseling to breastfeeding mothers
  • May assist WIC Coordinator with daily clinic operations, staff training, MI-WIC reports/audits, and the Nutrition Service Plan
  • Plans and provides training on current nutrition and health topics to staff, community agencies, dietetic students, and/or volunteers
  • Prepares educational materials for WIC participants
  • Maintains a working knowledge of community resources and contacts for referral of WIC participants
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nutrition education and counseling, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. A Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential is required.
