Position Summary

Tactical Air Support is in search of a skilled Power Plant Mechanic to oversee the maintenance and repair of F5 Fighter Jets. This role involves the removal and installation of engines, along with troubleshooting and repairing engine and fuel systems utilizing technical documentation and guidelines. The mechanic will also operate various power tools, calibrated instruments, and heavy machinery such as engine work stands, and will be responsible for the removal and installation of trailers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, repair, install, inspect, and conduct maintenance on company aircraft.
  • Document all work performed in accordance with relevant manuals and regulations.
  • Follow General Work Requirements for factory, shop, and hangar positions.
  • Adhere to Environmental Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Execute all tasks in a safe and timely manner.
  • Operate ground support equipment as necessary.
  • Carry out mechanical and electrical removals and installations.
  • Provide assistance to other maintenance disciplines as required.
  • Support fuel operations for aircraft as needed.
  • Assist with engine removal and installation tasks.
  • Contribute to aircraft component repairs as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent with 3-4 years of experience working with military fighter aircraft.
  • Experience with J85 Engines, specifically F-5/T-38 models.
  • Familiarity with high-performance military aircraft, preferably F-5/T-38.
  • Possession of Support Equipment Operator License (Tow Tractor, N2 Servicing Trailer, and Mobile Start Unit at a minimum).
  • A&P Certification, or willingness to obtain this certification.
  • General knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals.
  • Professional interaction with other mechanics and supervisors.
  • Knowledge of fire safety and first aid equipment.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • U.S. Citizenship with the capability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Ground Support Equipment Qualifications.
  • FAA Airframe and Power Plant License.
Physical Requirements
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds (with assistance if necessary).
  • Regular use of hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, along with reaching with hands and arms.
  • Regularly ascend and descend stairs and/or ladders.
Work Environment
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States and complete a U.S. government I-9 form.
  • Tactical Air Support maintains a Drug & Alcohol-Free workplace. Pre-employment, random, or for cause drug/alcohol testing is mandatory.
  • Pre-employment and ongoing physical certifications are required.
  • Exposure to occasional aircraft hangar or warehouse environments with loud noises, fumes from engines and chemicals, and unpredictable climate conditions (hot/cold).
  • May be required to handle hazardous materials.
  • Specific work hours determined by operational, departmental, or contractual requirements.
  • Occasional evening, weekend, holiday, and overtime work may be necessary.
  • Travel to various work sites throughout the U.S. may be required.
