Job Summary

As an Avionics Technician II at AAR, you will play a critical role in supporting the depot-level modification, upgrade, and test of aircraft sub-systems under the guidance of Lead or Level III Technicians. Your duties will include inspecting, testing, modifying, and repairing avionic and electrical systems, including radar, radio, navigation, and aircraft power systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Modify, upgrade, inspect, test, adjust, and repair aircraft avionic and electrical systems, including aircraft installed radar, radio, navigation, and power systems using hand tools and test equipment.
  • Inspect components of avionic and electrical systems and equipment for defects, such as loose connections and frayed wire, and for accuracy of assembly and installation.
  • Test avionic and electrical systems under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness, using test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, digital meters and counters, and circuit analyzers.
  • Adjust, repair, and/or replace defective components based on analysis of test results, following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents.
  • Calibrate installed, modified, or repaired systems and/or equipment to prescribed specifications.
  • Operate ground servicing equipment to operationally test, inspect, and verify functionality and air worthiness of avionic and other electrical systems.
  • Assist in fabricating wiring harnesses.
  • Accurately document all required U.S. Government and program forms and documents, including electronic records.
  • Effectively interact with program and customer representatives as well as on-site business or military representatives.
Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance is required.
  • High School Diploma / GED.
  • 4 years of related experience in avionics or electro-environmental maintenance.
  • F-16 experience is strongly preferred, but other military aircraft experience may be considered.
  • 5th generation aircraft experience is a plus.
  • Microsoft Office Suite skills are a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift and carry parts, tooling, and other awkward items sometimes weighing greater than 50 lbs, including walking up and down stairs, aircraft maintenance stands, and platforms.
  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
