We are currently seeking a skilled Senior Cost Consultant / Quantity Surveyor to oversee cost management and estimation for a significant data center development project. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication abilities and be adept at engaging with clients.
Key Responsibilities:- Estimate and negotiate change orders throughout the construction process.
- Develop and present comprehensive cost plans.
- Collaborate with design teams and contractors to refine cost estimates.
- Assist contractors in reconciling changes and ensuring data accuracy.
- Engage with project stakeholders to gather status updates for cost estimate revisions.
- Prepare detailed feedback on contractor submissions, including executive summaries.
- Coordinate cost information from various sources for discussions and supplier engagements.
- Drive engineering priorities based on cost implications.
- Proactively address scheduling challenges with minimal oversight.
- Conduct cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring timely and precise processes.
- Manage post-contract cost variances and change control effectively.
- Oversee cost impact management and maintain commitment tracking logs.
- Prepare funding presentations and facilitate value engineering sessions with stakeholders.
- Develop cost plans and estimates during the design phase, providing updates at key milestones.
- Offer commercial insights during design evaluations and value engineering initiatives.
- Review contractor pricing and lead negotiations to secure fair contract terms.
- Execute quantity surveying, cost control, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure effective management of post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
- Oversee cost auditing and valuation, ensuring robust validation processes are in place.
- Compile monthly cost reports for client presentations.
- Negotiate and finalize accounts promptly.
- Maintain as-built cost estimate records for benchmarking.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in construction cost management, with a relevant degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, or engineering. RICS accreditation or progress towards it is preferred. Experience leading cost management on medium to large-scale construction projects is essential, along with a solid understanding of procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
