Position Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Specialist is responsible for conducting laboratory tests on various specimens, delivering critical information that aids in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of illnesses. This role emphasizes quality, efficiency, and safety in executing assigned technical responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Exhibits expertise and adheres to testing protocols and policies, ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards for equipment and workspaces, while documenting corrective actions for any discrepancies.
• Prepares necessary reagents, ensures a sufficient supply of materials for testing procedures, and manages inventory to minimize waste and expenses within the department.
• Utilizes clinical judgment to prioritize tasks, troubleshoot test systems, and propose solutions through appropriate departmental channels, including consulting specialists when necessary.
• Aids in the review and modification of procedures and documentation pertinent to accreditation, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards from various authorities, including but not limited to CAP, TJC, and OSHA.
• Maintains effective communication between shifts and with leadership regarding any issues or concerns that may impact patient care or departmental operations.
Required Qualifications:
• A degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) is required.
• ASCP certification or eligibility within one year is mandatory (AMT certification is also accepted).
Experience Requirements:
• Core laboratory experience is essential, with proficiency in urinalysis, hematology, and chemistry.
• Recent graduates are welcome to apply.
Work Schedule: 3x12s, 6 PM - 6:30 AM (Rotating weekends and holidays or every weekend plus one day)
Compensation:
• MT: $38.25 per hour
• MLT: $20.50 - $28.25 per hour
