About the Position

The Douglas County Youth Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our mental health services team, you will work under the direction of the Mental Health Services Manager to provide evidence-based therapy and support to youth in our care.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions to youth, utilizing evidence-based models and trauma-informed care.
  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and risk evaluations to identify mental health needs and develop effective treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including probation officers, attorneys, and law enforcement, to ensure seamless coordination of care.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with youth, families, and community stakeholders to promote positive outcomes.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in mental health treatment and adhere to professional standards and regulations.

Requirements
  • Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, School Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or Human Services.
  • Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP) or provisional LMHP in the state of Nebraska.
  • Dually Licensed practitioner in Nebraska as a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) or LMHP and LADC preferred.
  • Experience working with adolescent populations and community behavioral health programs/resources preferred.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English preferred.

Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in a locked juvenile detention facility with potential exposure to biohazards and risk of injury from assaultive/abusive youth.
  • Standard day-shift hours, with potential for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts, as well as emergency call-ins.
