Job Summary

The Sales & Use Tax Compliance Specialist position requires a commitment to meet state-imposed deadlines, which may at times require overtime. The ideal candidate will be able to balance multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced, team dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Open all tax notices, enter them into tracking spreadsheets, gather backup, and research issues.
  • Assist with assembling audit backup, including calling customers for certificates, finding contracts, and tracking down invoice copies.
  • Handle new registrations and name/address changes on registrations, particularly around business acquisitions.
  • Enter all returns that must be uploaded via the state websites, whether via upload or manual entry.
  • Assist in preparing indirect tax compliance, including sales and use, excise, business, and other regulatory returns.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team dynamic environment.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Data Analytics, or equivalent experience.
  • 0-3 years' experience in accounting/tax role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using tax software, such as Vertex O or Q.
  • Experience with tax returns, such as Vertex Returns.
  • Knowledge of exemption certificate software, such as Vertex ECM.
  • Experience working with large volumes of data, including the use of pivot tables and Vlookups.
