Position Overview

As a member of our Cashier team, you will be responsible for delivering outstanding customer service in line with our Co-op standards. Your duties will include processing transactions swiftly, accurately, and efficiently, as well as managing all cash register operations, assisting with bagging groceries, and occasionally supporting the service desk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver friendly and welcoming customer service.
  • Stay informed about all promotions and advertisements.
  • Accurately operate point of sale devices and manage cash at the registers.
  • Recognize and memorize produce items and their corresponding PLU (price look up) numbers.
  • Carefully bag groceries and merchandise.
  • Maintain a tidy register area, ensuring supplies are stocked and following side work lists as applicable.
  • Ensure curbside orders are picked accurately and promptly.
  • Report any pricing discrepancies, PLU errors, unpriced items, and returned products.
  • Adhere to department sanitation, cleanliness, and safety standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Ability to provide friendly, face-to-face customer service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capacity to learn and memorize price look up codes.
  • Familiarity with Co-op products is preferred.
  • Proven skills in cash handling and operating the POS system.
  • Ability to clearly explain membership benefits and processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient in English; multilingual skills are a plus.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in moderate to loud noise environments, including paging systems, telephones, and human voices.
  • Must meet physical demands such as standing, bending, twisting, pushing/pulling carts, repetitive motions, and lifting 10-40 lbs regularly.
  • Occasional climbing of ladders may be required.
