Job Title: Lead Engineer

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Engineer to join our team. As a Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for leading key technical teams, providing oversight, and mentoring team members. You will work closely with stakeholders to interface on design progress, technical issues, cost, and schedule.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Manager to resource the eVinci component work, identifying gaps and supporting schedule development.
  • Lead key technical teams, providing oversight while delegating work and mentoring team members.
  • Interface with stakeholders on design progress, technical issues, cost, and schedule.
  • Encourage technical excellence and rigor in the group's work, including offering peer check opportunities.
  • Support the Manager in assuring appropriate headcount, resource qualification, and critical skills to support the eVinci component design.
  • Support the Manager in development of resources, including regular check-ins, review of TLDP progression, assignments for development, onboarding of new hires, etc.
  • Work with component, system, and manufacturing leads on the integration of the subsystems and work through emergent design issues.
  • Work with project managers and subsystem/component leads to develop and maintain project schedules, including reviewing and driving budgets and schedule deliverables/milestones.
  • Identify and define technical issues, risks, and challenges, direct efforts to successful resolution.
  • Incorporate the use of industry, regulatory, or NRC/DOE/ASME codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to nuclear reactors in design activities.
  • Provide technical guidance, direction, and collaborate with other personnel, including partners such as national laboratories, sub-contractors, partners, suppliers, fabricators, and customers.
  • Adaptable and flexible to changes in strategy, market, design, or manufacturing.
  • Work highly independent, capable of not only mentoring engineers but also effectively leading a team of engineers in the execution of complex tasks.
  • Strong personal accountability for delivery of high-quality engineering.
Requirements:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering (alternate degrees such as nuclear, aerospace, structural engineering, or materials science, etc. will be considered).
  • Knowledge and experience in system or component level design.
  • Significant experience in a technical leadership role, either as a technical lead or project manager - with aspects of design, analysis, and manufacturing and with the ability to manage teams in challenging situations with complex tasks.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience required.
  • Required: US Person.
