Principal Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Westinghouse Electric Company. As a key member of our innovative team, you will play a critical role in supporting our mission to provide clean energy solutions.
Your Key Responsibilities- Design and analyze the eVinci microreactor components, leading others in the process.
- Create plans and lead team members in the development of eVinci Microreactor components from preliminary through final design.
- Assess and implement lessons learned and best practices within the group, communicating progress to management.
- Use analysis tools, such as Ansys and hand calculations, to qualify component design.
- Drive and/or execute component qualifications through ASME BPV code Section III Division 5 methodologies.
- Work with other component, system, and manufacturing leads on the integration of subsystems and emergent design issues.
- Collaborate with testing organization to develop plans for functional and qualification testing as needed.
- Work with project managers and subsystem/component leads to develop and maintain project schedules.
- Lead complex technical projects, coordinating multi-functional teams to accomplish project objectives while meeting established schedule and budget requirements.
- Identify and define technical issues, risks, and challenges, directing efforts to successful resolution.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering (MS/PhD preferred) or alternate degrees with component design experience.
- Familiarity with advanced reactor technology and designs (preferred).
- Knowledge in system and component level design.
- Knowledge and experience with design of components.
- Significant experience in a technical leadership role, working autonomously or leading a small technical team.
- Experience with mechanical behavior of materials and components under irradiation conditions.
- Strong computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience required or 6 with an advanced degree.
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
