Job Summary

New Story Schools is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher to teach and mentor Autism Support or Emotional Support students in grades K-12.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Create lesson plans that cater to the unique needs of students, incorporating modifications for specially designed instruction.
  • Submit required documentation, including lesson plans, IEPs, report cards, and progress reports, in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to design and implement appropriate services.
  • Establish clear expectations for student behavior and implement behavior management strategies to maintain a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Deliver classroom instruction in a meaningful and engaging way to enable students to progress toward IEP goals.
  • Provide guidance, leadership, and direction to staff within the classroom.
  • Conduct educational assessments and record/interpret data.
  • Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with agency policy, FERPA/HIPAA regulations, and student/counselor confidentiality.

Requirements
  • 6+ months of experience working with children with behavior/learning disorders (student teaching hours can be included).
  • Bachelor's or better in Special Education or Education.
  • Preferred: Master's or better in Special Education, PA Teacher License, or Teacher - Spec. Ed. certification.
