Position Summary

The Student Services Coordinator is tasked with the thorough management and oversight of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), 504 Plans, and student support documentation. This role is crucial in ensuring that all educational plans and assessments are current and adhere to state regulations. The coordinator works collaboratively with educators, families, and other stakeholders to guarantee that students receive the essential support and accommodations for their academic achievement.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. IEP Oversight
    • Formulate, document, and oversee IEPs for students requiring special education services.
    • Ensure regular updates and compliance with relevant state and federal guidelines.
    • Organize and facilitate IEP meetings, ensuring the presence of all necessary participants.
    • Collaborate with educators and service providers to track progress toward IEP objectives and prepare quarterly progress reports.
  2. 504 Plan Oversight
    • Develop, document, and manage 504 plans for students needing additional support.
    • Ensure plans are consistently updated and tailored to individual student needs.
    • Engage with parents to schedule and conduct 504 meetings.
  3. Student Assessments
    • Coordinate and manage initial and re-evaluations for special education services.
    • Ensure timely completion and renewal of evaluations, adhering to all legal and procedural standards.
    • Communicate with relevant parties to schedule and conduct evaluations.
  4. Collaboration and Support
    • Work in tandem with educators and service providers to implement accommodations and modifications as specified in IEPs and 504 Plans.
    • Provide training and guidance to staff on special education processes and best practices.
  5. Family Communication
    • Act as the primary liaison for families regarding IEP and 504 meetings.
    • Ensure effective communication with families to keep them informed and engaged in their child's educational journey.
  6. Compliance and Record Keeping
    • Maintain accurate and current student records, ensuring all documentation meets state and federal standards.
    • Manage digital student information systems.
    • Conduct regular audits of student files to ensure ongoing compliance.
  7. Additional Duties
    • Stay informed about changes in special education laws and regulations.
    • Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Candidate Qualifications

Education and Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Preferred degree in a relevant content area.
  • Preferred certification in the content area.

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience implementing intervention strategies with middle or high school students.
  • Experience coaching and supporting peers in an educational setting.
  • Experience in developing and leading student programs is preferred.
  • Proficiency in technology, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills.
