Job Title: Youth Peer Partner - Drop-In Center

Mid-Columbia Center for Living is seeking a motivated and compassionate Youth Peer Partner to join our team at the Drop-In Center. As a Youth Peer Partner, you will play a vital role in empowering youth and young adults with behavioral, mental health, and other challenges by providing recovery-oriented services.

Job Summary:

The Youth Peer Partner - Drop-In Center will work with individuals to promote greater independence, community integration, and recovery for mental wellness. This position will provide peer support to consumers who may be experiencing mental health issues in the community, facilitating contact with providers, assisting with transportation issues, and conducting program outreach as necessary.

Responsibilities:
  • Meet regularly with consumers to provide peer support and training in independent living skills.
  • Maintain client documentation within scope of position using an electronic health record system.
  • Advocate on behalf of consumers and promote self-advocacy, maintaining consumer networks in the community.
  • Conduct outreach activities in local communities to promote the Drop-In Center's services.
  • Communicate with treatment teams about problems or concerns and participate in on-going support networks with other Peer Support Specialists.
  • Coordinate and facilitate oversight of outings/activities, ensuring the group's safety and providing transportation as required.
  • Provide coverage for other Peer Partners and Peer Support Specialists as needed.
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Have or be able to obtain within a reasonable time frame, an Oregon Health Authority certification as a Peer Delivered Service Provider.
  • Have previous or current lived experience as a mental health treatment consumer, and/or support a family member with experience as a mental health treatment consumer.
  • Must be 30 years of age or younger.
  • Knowledge of youth bill of rights and support principles, as well as current youth, young adult, and family mental health and other disability issues nationally and locally.
