JOB OVERVIEW
The Healthcare Case Management Specialist is responsible for overseeing medical transfers and travel assistance cases, ensuring the coordination of services and providers. This includes managing travel logistics, medical consultations, repatriation efforts, evacuations, and ongoing care for hospitalized clients. In collaboration with the treating physician's guidance and under the supervision of the Director of Assistance Services, the Specialist acts as a medical advocate for clients, facilitating assistance in accordance with established emergency assistance policies.
The Specialist must demonstrate independent judgment and critically assess information to make informed decisions that can significantly influence case outcomes and client satisfaction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Ensure the delivery of safe, timely, effective, and client-focused care.
· Manage case assignments, formulate service plans, evaluate case progress, and determine case closure.
· Facilitate various aspects of care coordination, including information sharing, while actively engaging with clients to monitor their progress and ensure their satisfaction.
· Collaborate with other departments to create and maintain a comprehensive database of local service providers, including air ambulance services and hospitals, to enhance existing resources.
· Assist clients in making informed choices by advocating for their membership and insurance benefits.
· Foster effective working relationships and collaborate with the Medical Services team throughout the case management process.
· Document case details, accurately complete all required forms, and generate statistical reports as necessary.
· Promote quality and cost-effective interventions and outcomes.
· Comply with professional standards as outlined by organizational protocols, rules, and regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Demonstrated experience in travel medical case management, with a strong background in emergency, critical, and acute care; knowledge of aeromedical transport services and flight physiology is advantageous.
· Comprehensive understanding of case management principles, healthcare administration, and reimbursement processes.
· Ability to think critically and independently, particularly in time-sensitive situations; must be self-driven and capable of functioning under pressure.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills to establish and maintain relationships both internally and externally.
· Exceptional organizational and time management abilities, with a talent for multitasking, problem-solving, prioritizing, delegating, and meeting urgent deadlines.
· Compassionate demeanor with strong teamwork capabilities.
· Proficient in typing and computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
· Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field or equivalent professional experience.
