Work Schedule:

Full-time position, day shift. Monday through Friday; Hours may vary between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM based on departmental needs.

The Pharmaceutical Research Center, a specialized unit within the UW Health Pharmacy Department, oversees the management of study medications for Clinical Research Trials.

As a Clinical Pharmacy Technician Expert, your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing inventory for over 250 clinical trials, including the receipt and verification of investigational drugs, ordering study medications, and monitoring expiration dates.
  • Preparing research medications for both inpatients and outpatients, ensuring adherence to protocols, correct drug selection, and subject identification.
  • Utilizing your keen attention to detail and ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications:

Education:

Minimum - High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred - Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program.

Experience:

Minimum - Six months of experience as a pharmacy technician or completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program.

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum - As mandated by the enactment of 2021 WI Act 100, all candidates hired into this role on or after March 1, 2023, must apply for registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the WI Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) and provide proof of application to their UW Health Recruiter prior to their start date. Failure to comply may result in a delayed start date or withdrawal of the offer. Current employees or those in an affected role prior to March 1, 2023, must provide proof of application to their department designee by March 31, 2023.

Preferred - Certification as a Pharmacy Technician.
