POSITION SUMMARY
As a vital member of our multi-disciplinary Architecture/Engineering Practice, Michael Baker International is seeking a Project Architect who is passionate and driven to contribute to ongoing and future Federal Projects. Responsibilities will encompass design and documentation for various Federal and Department of Defense projects, alongside market-driven diversification in sectors such as Healthcare, Commercial, Aviation, and Transit. The Project Architect will collaborate within multi-disciplinary design teams that include architects, interior designers, site/civil engineers, and building systems engineers. The ideal candidate will exhibit creative problem-solving abilities, organizational skills, strong production management expertise, and a solid understanding of construction documents and their feasibility.
- The Project Architect will participate in a team focused primarily on Federal projects, with opportunities in non-Federal projects as well.
- This role includes leading small teams and engaging directly with clients for selected projects.
- Involvement in activities related to planning, design, and construction documentation, including code analysis documents, studies, reports, sketches, schematic drawings, renderings, specifications, final contract documents, and as-built drawings.
- Collaboration with Project Managers to ascertain functional and spatial requirements for new structures, sites, or renovations, while preparing information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction timelines.
- Designing project layouts and integrating architectural elements into a cohesive design for client review and approval.
- Producing scale drawings and contract documents for building contractors.
- Supervising the preparation of plans utilizing computer-aided design software and equipment.
- Conducting Quality Control Reviews.
- Maintaining a current understanding of industry software, including Revit and BIM.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
- NAAB Accredited degree in Architecture (Master's degree is advantageous).
- Professional Registration as an Architect in any U.S. jurisdiction is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including some exposure to Federal/DOD projects.
- Proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM), specifically Autodesk Revit Architecture, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Autodesk BIM 360, VMware Horizon, and similar platforms.
- Familiarity with graphics/rendering software to effectively communicate ideas is preferred.
The estimated compensation range for this position is between $93,844 and $135,504. This range is a good faith estimate for the role at the time of posting. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and work location.
