Specialty: RN House Supervisor

Overview: The Nursing House Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care by effectively overseeing the operations of patient care services during their designated shift. In the absence of the Administrator or their representative, the Nursing House Supervisor is empowered to make administrative decisions and notify the Administrator-on-Call as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement hospital and nursing policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Conduct rounds in all patient care units to assess patient conditions, evaluate staffing requirements, and provide support to nursing staff.
  • Assess and manage patient pain effectively, utilizing appropriate pain management strategies while educating patients and their families.
  • Deliver comprehensive patient care in a manner that prioritizes patient safety and minimizes the risk of medical errors.
  • Oversee the distribution and effective use of nursing personnel during the assigned shift.
  • Continuously coordinate and assess services provided by all departments throughout the shift.
  • Keep the Nurse Executive and Administrator informed of any significant circumstances or situations that may impact patient care.
  • Exercise sound judgment to ensure compliance with established hospital protocols.
  • Communicate patient conditions and necessary follow-up actions to the incoming shift personnel.
  • Engage in various committees and contribute to hospital initiatives.
  • Assist in planning and delivering in-service education programs within the hospital and at external meetings or seminars.
  • Participate in patient care meetings and educational functions.
  • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Evaluate and document employee performance as required, sharing insights with the Patient Care Manager.
  • Fulfill responsibilities outlined in the Emergency Preparedness Manual.
  • Adhere to Pharmacy protocols for drug procurement when the Pharmacist is unavailable.
  • Assess the accuracy of staffing systems.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program with current licensure as a registered professional nurse.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience as a staff nurse and in a managerial role.
