About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team at Drr Systems Inc. As a Mechanical Designer, you will play a crucial role in creating new models in Solidworks (3D) and utilizing AutoCAD Inventor (3D) to work with older drawings and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate and manage concepts, mechanical sketches, and drawings required for various types of air pollution abatement equipment.
  • Design general arrangement, complex assembly, layout detail, and fabrication drawings.
  • Utilize a computer-aided design (CAD) system to create drawings (2D and 3D).
  • Interpret schematics to develop complete system designs.
  • Travel to customer sites and participate in field measurements.
  • Maintain project schedules.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers, and customers.
  • Control and document the distribution and archiving of drawings and documents.
  • Understand, diagnose, and solve real or potential design problems.
  • Attend and contribute to design review meetings.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings.
  • Exercises critical judgment in creating designs that perform functionally and meet project specifications while considering key aspects of safety, cost, code compliance, ability to fabricate, ergonomics, and aesthetics.
Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred.
  • Experience designing sheet metal assemblies and air handling systems preferred.
  • Familiar with mechanical layout, detail drawings, and basic piping preferred.
  • Prior experience with PLM software (SAP, Oracle, etc...) preferred but not required.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Ability to perform basic engineering calculations.
  • Strong skills in math and geometry.
  • Proficient in the use of Solidworks (2D and 3D) and AutoCAD (2D and 3D).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to understand and maintain project schedules.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Good technical writing skills.
  • Good communication skills with co-workers, suppliers, and customers.
  • Able to work well independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to technically define problems and propose solutions.
  • Adaptable to change in a learning environment.
  • Self-starter capable of executing assigned tasks and solving problems in a diplomatic and professional manner.
Additional Requirements
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and be able to pass a drug test at any time during employment.

Physical Demands

While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close and distance vision. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to:

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary based on need. May be required to work holidays or weekends. Overtime may be required.
