Position Overview

The role involves serving as a Registered Nurse Professional Development Practitioner at Geisinger Janet Weis Children's Hospital, specifically within the Level I Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

This position seeks a dedicated Nursing Professional Development Practitioner to enhance educational programs and meet the learning needs of the Pediatric ICU.

The PICU is equipped to provide the highest standard of care for critically ill or injured children, featuring state-of-the-art technology and a team of highly trained specialists, including surgeons, subspecialists, critical care nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.

Since its inception in 1981, Geisinger Janet Weis Children's Hospital has been committed to saving lives and assisting children in returning to their everyday activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in the educational design process and deliver classroom instruction.
  • Lead process transformations through effective project management and improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in leadership roles on units, councils, and committees.
  • Facilitate professional role development and practice role transitions.
  • Contribute to succession planning and the generation and dissemination of new knowledge.
  • Support the use of electronic medical records and oversee onboarding and orientation programs for healthcare personnel.
  • Directly supervise staff and coordinate attendance at educational programs.
  • Develop and manage competency programs while addressing practice gaps through educational activities.
  • Actively mentor and coach nursing staff.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required); Master's Degree (Preferred).
  • A minimum of 3 years of RN experience, particularly in Pediatric ICU (Required).
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania or Multi-state Licensure).
  • Strong clinical skills, effective communication, computer literacy, interpersonal communication, preceptor skills, and teamwork.
Work Schedule

Full-time position (1.0 FTE, 40 hours/week) with a schedule of days (Monday to Friday).
