Job Description and Duties

As a Commercial Vehicle Inspection Specialist with the California Highway Patrol, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our roads by conducting routine inspections on commercial vehicles to verify compliance with weight, size, registration, safety, and equipment requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough inspections of commercial vehicles to identify any safety or regulatory issues
  • Test and inspect all types of commercial vehicle brake systems for compliance with vehicle code and other applicable laws and regulations
  • Refer violators to enforcement officers for action when necessary
  • Work collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure compliance and safety
Working Conditions:

This position requires working one of three shifts, including weekends, and may involve working in a fast-paced environment with varying weather conditions.

Special Requirements:
  • A valid California Driver's License (CDL) is required
  • A background investigation and medical clearance are required prior to hire
  • A drug screening must be passed prior to being hired
