Manufacturing Operations Manager: Evening Shift

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manufacturing Operations Manager to join our team at Jabil. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for directing the activities of the Machine Support group and ensuring that quality standards are met.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintenance management and experience in supervising technical staff. You will be responsible for planning and executing line moves and builds, scheduling equipment vendors, and ensuring that procedures and work instructions are efficient and not redundant.

As a Manufacturing Operations Manager, you will be expected to lead by example, demonstrate a commitment to customer service, and anticipate, meet, and exceed expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively.

You will also be responsible for identifying and implementing new practices and processes that are "best in field" and utilizing Jabil's Advanced Engineering group to ensure useful support to Jabil South.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring Process Engineers, Industrial Techs, WAVE Techs, and Machine Support Techs
  • Coaching machine support department staff in the interviewing/hiring process
  • Monitoring team member turnover and identifying key factors that can be improved
  • Creating and managing succession plans for the machine shop function
  • Establishing clear measurable goals and objectives for individual and team results
  • Soliciting ongoing feedback from Workcell Manager, Business Unit Manager, peers, and team members
  • Providing ongoing coaching and counseling to team members based on feedback
  • Performing team member evaluations professionally and on time
  • Driving individuals and the team to continuously improve in key operational metrics and the achievement of organizational goals
  • Coordinating activities of large teams and keeping them focused in times of crises
  • Ensuring recognition and rewards are managed fairly and consistently

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred
  • Three years experience in maintenance management or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of Surface Mount Technologies (SMT) and Thru-hole equipment/gear, process optimization, Statistical Process Control, Design for Manufacturability, Design for Test, Demand Flow Technology (line balancing), and Design of Experiment methodologies
  • Knowledge of engineering disciplines including chemistry, mechanical, electrical, and industrial as it pertains to surface mount and final assembly
