Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Pipeline Welding Specialist to join our team. This role is crucial for the maintenance and execution of our Company Welding Program across the entire pipeline system. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing welding procedures and non-destructive examination (NDE) protocols to support our construction and maintenance initiatives. Daily collaboration with Engineers, Project Managers, and third-party Contractors will be essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Company's welder qualification program and maintain the welder database.
- Assess and authorize vendors and third-party Contractors, including fabrication shops and NDE Contractors.
- Deliver training sessions for Company and third-party welders and inspectors.
- Act as an Operator Qualification (OQ) Evaluator for welding and NDE tasks.
- Review and update Company procedures in line with new regulations and industry standards.
- Assist other departments during State and DOT PHMSA audits.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficient understanding of pipeline regulations and industry standards such as API 5L, ASME B31.8/B31.4, API 1104, and 49 CFR Part 192/195.
- Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulations effectively.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with a proactive approach and self-motivation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Willingness to travel (approximately 20% of the time) and work in diverse environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Welding Engineering.
- Experience in pipeline construction practices, materials, and inspection methods relevant to natural gas and hazardous liquid pipelines.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, or Metallurgy from an accredited institution, or 7+ years of relevant experience with in-depth technical knowledge from a pipeline operating company, along with AWS CWI Certification.
