Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at the City of Lebanon. As a key member of our Public Works Department, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment and trucks to perform construction, maintenance, and repair activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, graders, and front-end loaders to perform tasks such as digging ditches, laying lines or pipe, and repairing bridges.
  • Assist the crew in loading, hauling, and unloading equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with varying weather conditions and exposure to heavy equipment, noise, and physical demands.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment, with some experience in road repair or maintenance, utility work, etc.
  • Valid Tennessee Class B CDL and clear driving record required.
Working Conditions

The physical demands of this job include frequent lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, occasional lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds, and up to 100 pounds with assistance. The work environment is typically outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions, noise, and physical demands.
