Job Summary

The Assistant General Manager is a key member of the hotel management team, responsible for assisting the General Manager in maintaining proper controls for all hotel operations in accordance with company policies and franchise standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management: Assist in achieving hotel financial goals and budget targets, ensuring that payroll and purchasing controls are in place to maintain and exceed profit goals.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure that all Shaner and franchise operating standards are followed, and maintain complete knowledge of hotel features, room types, rates, room availability, and expected arrivals/departures.
  • Guest Satisfaction: Handle guest complaints ensuring guest satisfaction, and assist staff with their job functions to ensure optimum service to guests.
  • Leadership and Development: Lead all aspects of employee performance to ensure productivity and a quality work environment, and establish, maintain, and train standards and procedures for cleaning and safe working conditions in all departments.
  • Quality Assurance: Work to ensure high scores for customer service, cleanliness, and other related items on all Shaner and Franchise inspections.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of management experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Communication: Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent; college degree in hospitality management or business preferred.
  • Language: Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of budget preparation and cost controls, working knowledge of all hotel departments, and ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
