Washington, United States Rocketshipschools Full time

About Rocketship Public Schools: At Rocketship Public Schools, we champion the limitless potential of every individual. We firmly believe that each student has the right to aspire, explore, and cultivate their unique abilities. Our mission is to unlock the potential within every Rocketeer we serve. As a non-profit network of public elementary charter schools, we are dedicated to enhancing student performance, nurturing outstanding educators, and collaborating with families to ensure the success of high-quality public education in their communities.

Role Overview: Our elementary educators are specialists in either Humanities or STEM disciplines. This focus allows teachers to gain deeper knowledge in their subject areas and fosters a collaborative environment where lesson plans are developed alongside other skilled educators. Each school is supported by leadership that provides ongoing professional development and immediate coaching for teachers in their classrooms weekly. Just as our educators dedicate their time and effort to the growth of their students, we are equally committed to the professional growth of our teachers.

Community Engagement: Rocketship's collaborative learning environment extends beyond the classroom. We prioritize parent involvement, and new teachers often find themselves impressed by the active participation of Rocketeer families in their school community. Through annual home visits, monthly parent meetings, and a vibrant volunteer network, we cultivate strong relationships, a rich school culture, and a committed community that drives student success.

Commitment to Excellence: By joining Rocketship, you become part of a network dedicated to educational excellence. If you seek an opportunity to effect transformative change in underserved communities and contribute to a national movement aimed at closing the achievement gap, Rocketship is the place for you. We have ambitious plans to expand our reach to serve more communities in need each year and prioritize the development of leaders from within through various career pathway programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish a classroom culture of excellence and deliver high-quality instruction by developing subject expertise in either Humanities or STEM, encapsulated in comprehensive units of study and daily lesson plans.
  • Engage in data-driven instructional cycles to inform planning and tailor instruction to meet student needs.
  • Collaborate with special education staff to ensure meaningful inclusion for students requiring additional support.

  • Initiate authentic connections with families through home visits, laying the groundwork for ongoing communication to support student achievement.
  • Engage families in academic and behavioral objectives, transparently sharing student progress to ensure collective ownership of successes and challenges.

Professional Culture:

  • Commit to personal and professional excellence, continuously developing skills as educators and individuals.
  • Participate in all professional development sessions and opportunities.
  • Act decisively and courageously in the best interest of students, even in unfamiliar situations.
  • Meet all professional obligations and communicate proactively regarding any changes.
  • Demonstrate a high level of honest self-reflection, taking responsibility for both positive and negative outcomes.
  • Respond effectively to constructive feedback and contribute positively to staff culture.
