Job Summary

As a Document Processing Technician at TDEC, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our document processing systems. You will also assist in developing and implementing data indexing procedures, perform complex assignments requiring selection, indexing, coding, and interpretation of data, and accurately index data using various sources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interact with computer operators and customers regarding job setup, work performed, and job status.

  • Sort, classify, file, and retrieve data, mail, and other material in established digital and related filing systems.
  • Perform related tasks to maintain IT data and files as requested.
  • Batch documents and scan them into the system.
  • Perform quality assurance on scanned documents.
  • Perform general cleaning and maintenance of scanning equipment.
  • Routine scanning of documents received in district offices.
  • Interact with the OWCP Central Mailroom facility as needed.
  • Data entry services involving keying of data and correcting erroneous data from standard forms and other input documents.
  • Clerical services involving review, verification, validation, and tabulation of data for various functions.
  • Occasional support services involving opening, counting, and sorting of incoming mail, filing mail in proper file folders, and retrieving/replacing file folders.
  • Prepare various materials such as reports, folders, labels, routing slips, or mailing.
  • Answer and make telephone calls and prepare correspondence relative to assigned work.
  • Provide assistance to the supervisor as required, including input of data, filing, typing, association of materials and files, and related tasks.

Requirements
  • Demonstrated aptitude and intelligence in mastering the operations aspects of IS processing systems.
  • Detailed knowledge of data entry machine operation, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to interact maturely with personnel at various levels.
  • Work experience as a data entry operator or completed a data entry operator course involving use of a computer terminal screen and keyboard along with 6 months of actual data entry or indexing experience.
