Responsibilities

Program Overview

Our Specialized Crisis Services program caters to children and adolescents under 18 facing crises such as suicidal thoughts, physical aggression, or severe psychological distress. The program focuses on collaborating with the client, their family, and other essential participants to evaluate risks and protective factors, ensuring safety for all involved. We prioritize utilizing the least restrictive settings possible. The Youth Villages' SCS Program employs a systematic treatment approach, emphasizing parent-focused interventions that drive change through family, educational, community, and peer networks. Staff undergo intensive training in assessment, crisis management, in-home treatment, and respite care.

Position Overview

  • Deliver mobile crisis intervention and comprehensive, strength-based evaluations of children and families in distress within their natural surroundings.
  • Utilize crisis respite facilities when necessary.
  • Provide ongoing support and interventions to stabilize families until suitable services are established.
  • Work during non-traditional hours.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues in a highly supervised environment.
  • Engage in online documentation accessible from home.
  • Coordinate with adult crisis teams and community stakeholders.
  • Travel may extend up to a 60+ mile radius from the office.
  • Attendance at meetings may be required on days off.

Additional Information

Work schedules are variable and will be elaborated upon during the interview process. This role encompasses both telehealth and in-person evaluations.

Our SCS teams operate from various locations. The schedule is adaptable and non-traditional, designed around the availability of the youth and families we serve.

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license, a personal vehicle for work-related purposes, and appropriate auto insurance.

Community-based staff will receive mileage reimbursement for applicable travel.

Salary

$58,000 per year, contingent upon educational background and clinical licensure.

Qualifications

Requirements

A Master's degree in a clinical or mental health discipline is mandatory.

Candidates nearing graduation (within 6 months) with a mental health or clinical Master's degree may also be considered.

Acceptable degrees include Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy. Other degrees will be assessed for qualification equivalency.

One year of clinical experience with youth is preferred.

Applicants who are provisionally licensed or pursuing licensure are strongly encouraged to apply (LMSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT).

Strong written, verbal, and oral communication skills are essential.

Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently is required.

Basic computer proficiency is necessary.

Flexibility in scheduling is important.

Counselors must have their own vehicle for work-related tasks and maintain liability insurance.

Acceptable driving record: three or fewer moving violations within the past 36 months.
